Diaries: On Failure

So... I have won with many things. But I have failed with a whole lot too.

I once had a tutor who thought I was weird. Because I simply believed this...

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."

I admit that it is phrased in an usual way. But it means that if you keep trying and going harder, each time you fail, you will be at a higher level- closer to success.

"Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently." Henry Ford

In my world, failure comes with opportunity. I like to make the best out of every situation. Even when I get a very hard hit!

This quote on my 'About' page is another one that fuels me...
“Life is like a camera. You focus on what’s important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives and, if things don’t work out, take another shot.”  – Anonymous

I hope you are having a very wonderful week♥ Thoughts?

Love,
Summer

P.S. 'Diaries' is a weekly series/column in which I talk on a deep and personal note♥

  3. What terrific quotes. It's always hard to see through to the other side when you're in the midst of a failure. I need to have these printed off and glued to my computer screen :)

  4. The thing is, if you don't fail, you don't learn. If things come easily, it's just the luck of the draw. Wisdom comes from learning that failure is just part of the process.

  5. Great quotes and so true. Many great discoveries came from failed experiments, in all fields.

  6. I always say the more times you knock on the door, the more likely it is to open. The stepping stones to success are often failures. Thanks for these great thoughts above Summer, they are inspiring!

  10. Hi Summer, I am so with you on failure. What a great perspective you have! Looking back, there are so many times I've wanted to quit various ventures, but didn't. And I'm so glad I didn't. That's where the blessings come from. And waiting, wow, what God has taught me about the persistence of waiting. It will he yields his greatest gifts to us.

  12. That is SO true. We learn far more from our failures than our successes, I think.

  13. We do learn more from the failures but as always, when in the thick of it, it is tough to stay positive and hopeful. You do it with Grace and Charm. That is a wonderful gift to have. :)

  14. Agreed! If you succeeded all the time life would be boring and there would be no way of improvign!

  15. Yes Summer, how true...and often what we think are our failures are the very things that make us grow, mature and wizen.

  16. Show me a person who has never failed and they will be a person who has never tried anything!!
I think we can learn more from our failures than our successes.

  17. That's very true, Summer! One of my favourite quotations about failure is a Chinese (I think) saying: "Fall down 10 times, get up 11." Thanks for popping by my blog today!

  18. That is a fabulous quote - so true, Summer. In French we say "qui risque gagne" hugs

  19. This concept that failure is often required to obtain success and we shouldn't fear it as much as we do is very relevant to me now. My son is at the funny age of 13 where I'm a human checklist but also trying to get him to take on trying things and doing on his own. Not to fear the tryout for the school team or the application process for high school. Anyhow. It's definitely applicable for the "grown" like myself as well. I had a friend recently suggest this book: "Fail, Fail Again, Fail Better" by Pema Chodron.

Which I must say eventually leads me to this quote that remains in my cube:

"Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein.

I'll share your camera quote with my son, as photography seems to be one of his "kinda sorta" interests ...

    All the best.

  20. These are great quotes. I really have issues with procrastination because I fear failing. This only came about as I got older, maybe because I had more failures behind me. It's really terrible when you're held back by your own self doubt.

Thanks for a thought invoking post!

  21. I often fail, but that is ok failing is allowed we all fail and then fail then succeed if we are lucky if not we will fail yet again.

  22. Failure is what helps us grow... when I was growing up I was afraid to talk in class and be wrong... today if I am wrong, I think it is a leaning experience xox
